Inspired by this quirk of nature, Axel spent the next 40 years gently guiding, bending, and grafting trees into impossible, Dr. Seuss-like living sculptures—including a tree shaped like a literal woven basket and a "Four-Legged Giant" that looks like a living gazebo.
